Early November is ideal for the final maintenance of your lawn. To help it regain strength after winter and achieve the most vibrant, greenest condition, you need to put in a bit of effort one last time. Then you'll be all set until spring!

Check out which tasks you shouldn't skip:

Mowing

The last lawn mowing should be done as late as possible, ideally in nice weather. This autumn cut should be at medium height, approximately 3-5 cm. This will prevent the formation of mould and other diseases that you certainly don't want for your lawn!

Aeration

Aeration, also known as scarification, is best done before ground frost threatens and on a mowed surface. What will you need for this? For small areas, a rake will suffice, whilst for larger ones, a scarifier will help. And remember, just as you aerated in one direction in spring, this time it's best to do it in a perpendicular direction. Don't forget to carefully collect the raked debris and then use it for compost.

Fertilising

Before winter, it's also advisable to add fertiliser to your lawn to provide essential nutrients. What you add in autumn, you'll find in spring! Ideal is a fertiliser that increases frost resistance. Potassium can do just that!

Sanding

Sanding isn't strictly necessary, it's just a supplementary activity, but it can be very useful if the soil is too waterlogged. Especially if the season has been particularly rainy. With a bit of sand, your lawn will be back in shape!

Last but not least, raking leaves is essential, not just for appearance, but to prevent decaying piles from "suffocating" our lawn of all lawns! It would then struggle to come back to life in spring...

So remember, those who don't slack off in autumn will see the green in spring!
