Repotting Indoor Plants: Don't Forget the Important Steps
Regarding intensity, young plants are transplanted differently than mature, older ones. Small and young plants are transplanted more frequently. In such cases, we carefully remove the plant from its original pot and use one that is 2-3 sizes larger for planting. During transplanting, we remove the old, depleted, and often contaminated substrate and use fresh one to replenish the plant with suitable minerals. However, the larger and older the plants are, the less frequently we transplant them, or rather we transplant them at longer intervals - approximately every 2-3 years. In this case, to avoid disturbing the root ball, we only replace the soil (specifically its top layer). In such situations, the top layer (about 2cm) is removed during transplanting, the plant is placed in the pot and covered with fresh substrate.

other supplies, depending on the plant you're planning to transplant (for example, if you're transplanting a climbing species - a moss pole is suitable, or a trellis for planters).
Some people apply slow-release fertilizer during transplanting. The transplanting itself is done to keep the root system healthy and especially to provide the roots with enough space for necessary nutrients. When you provide the plant with extra nutrients, you won't do any harm.
4. Another matter to consider before repotting is choosing the type and shape of the container.
Tip: if you're planning to repot bushy, branching plants, or if you want to ensure stability for the plant - choose containers that are wider rather than deeper.
Procedure
Take a new plant pot. Every pot, if you want the plant to continue growing without problems, should have a drainage hole at the bottom through which excess water flows out. This ensures that the repotted plant has enough water and that it doesn't immediately flow out through the hole in the pot. Pour a small layer of new potting soil on the bottom. Then place the plant, already prepared for repotting, into the pot. If it seems that the plant positioned this way will be planted too deep, add more soil. The rule here is that the plant should be repotted at the same depth as before.
5. If you have now successfully repotted the plant into a suitable pot, it's also necessary to think about the care needed after repotting. We don't water the plant immediately after repotting. By not watering the plant, we encourage the formation of new roots and subsequent root development. Don't place the plant immediately in a sunny location, or in another place with extreme conditions. Also protect the plant from possible cold. We NEVER fertilize repotted plants immediately! Wait 3-4 weeks until it's clear that the plant has successfully overcome the rooting phase.
